1. Establish whether this scheme is available yet
UWV distinguishes temporary financial difficulty from permanent inability to pay. A delayed salary alone does not amount to an insolvency benefit award. Establish the formal situation, whether a trustee or administrator exists and what UWV has communicated. Where wages are simply unpaid, a wage-claim route may be relevant before the insolvency scheme applies.
UWV warns that an application submitted too early will be rejected and refers employees to its current decision aid. Follow the instructions for your circumstances. Bankruptcy information may arrive through the employer or trustee. Keep the invitation and record requests for missing information. Do not wait indefinitely if colleagues receive instructions but you have not been contacted.
2. Save your employment evidence before access ends
UWV's general list includes six months of payslips, employment contracts, the termination letter, evidence of outstanding amounts and holiday or time-off balances. Current pension information and a new employment contract may also be needed. Check the personal document list supplied with your invitation or application rather than assuming the general list is exhaustive.
Organise by type and period: contracts, pay, hours and leave. Preserve necessary personal employment evidence without copying unrelated company material. An overtime sheet may need supporting instructions or approval. Identify missing documents and request copies rather than presenting an unsupported estimate as a proven balance. Keep your factual calculation separate from an amount that the employer or trustee disputes.
3. Attend the information meeting and complete the application
UWV advises attending the information meeting before applying where you are invited. The form and next steps are explained there. If you cannot attend, ask how to obtain the instructions. The meeting itself is not the application, so retain evidence that the actual claim was subsequently submitted and received.
Check personal details, employment, dismissal dates and bank information before submission. Identify disputed amounts honestly and support the facts you know. Keep the application and attachments. If more information is requested, record the response date and ask exactly what remains missing. A complete application helps processing but does not establish that every claimed item falls within the statutory coverage.
4. Treat an advance separately from the final total
UWV describes an advance for outstanding wages within four weeks after application. Further investigation can mean only part is paid initially. Its guidance identifies a final account within twenty-six weeks after application. Read your personal correspondence for the current position. A first payment below your entire claim is not necessarily a final rejection of everything else.
Separate advances from items still under assessment. Record which period and pay components each transfer covers. Ask whether a missing item will be considered later, needs more evidence or falls outside the scheme. Amounts and periods helps distinguish an unresolved component from a residual claim to submit to the trustee. Keep the response with the payment specification.
5. Continue reporting income and new work correctly
For wages during the notice period, UWV requires an income statement. Its guidance describes completing it from the first day of the following month. Read which actual work and earnings must be reported and follow the instructions you receive. Submitting the initial claim does not remove all subsequent administrative obligations.
Report a new job or work with a restarted business correctly and keep the new contract and payslips. Do not assume new earnings are irrelevant because old wages remain unpaid. Ask which periods are compared. If a question is unclear, request explanation and preserve the answer. Failing to provide the required statement can delay payment even where UWV received the original application.
6. Investigate an error or missing decision
Keep receipt evidence, messages, advance statements and the final award. Compare the assessed periods with dismissal and notice dates. Ask which information was used and how a correction request will be handled. A trustee can confirm employment facts but does not make the final UWV entitlement decision on UWV's behalf.
Also check the formal challenge deadline. A telephone discussion or request for a specification does not automatically suspend it. Explain urgent financial difficulty and ask which options exist in your situation without assuming accelerated payment is guaranteed. A dispute about the employment end or a wage entitlement may need separate employment-law advice alongside the UWV process.
7. Prepare income after the notice period
Insolvency benefit and unemployment benefit are different schemes. If you remain unemployed after the notice period, investigate the unemployment application and conditions in time. If sick, ask about the appropriate sickness and reporting route. Receiving an advance does not automatically arrange income for every later period or establish entitlement to another benefit.
Create a final overview of UWV items, payments, trustee claims and any subsequent benefit. Keep the final account after starting a new job because corrections or recovery questions may arise later. The main insolvency dossier connects the application with work instructions, a business restart and outstanding rights outside UWV coverage.

Can I apply as soon as salary is late?

Which payslips are needed?
The general list mentions the last six months. Check your personal list and the additional contract, hours and leave evidence requested.
Is the first payment the final outcome?
No. An advance may cover only part of the claim. UWV describes a later final account.
Is anything required after applying?
Yes, including requested documents, income statements and correct reporting of new work. Follow the instructions received.
